Creating a Community Hub (post 1, Our Pods Have Landed)
This week saw the arrival on site of our Urban Pod shelter room and toilet block for our outdoor school age childcare development in Fintry, Dundee.
This project is part of the redevelopment of a stunning, old sandstone farmhouse and adjacent 1.3 acres of land that we secured through community asset transfer from Dundee City Council.
We’re creating a community hub with flexible, accessible, childcare at its core, and wraparound family and community support services completing the picture. Services will include but be limited to:
- Flexible, accessible, book by the hour childcare services, moving our existing local service into this new setting.
- Funded 1140 hours early learning and childcare.
- School age childcare.
- A multi purpose living room for community use, including foster and kinship cater group meetings, Camerados public living room sessions, support services such as benefits maximisation, fuel efficiency, digital access and employability advice.
- A community shed and tool library to support increased repair, reuse and recycle activities.
- Multi generational activities to support better community relationships and break down barriers between generations.
We also plan to create some Play Ranger posts within our team and open up the outdoor area for community access to green play space in the evenings and at weekends.
Our aim is to create a true community asset from this fantastic building and site in the heart of Fintry, Dundee. You can follow our Dundee service’s page on Facebook for regular progress updates.
